Bontu Electric Quadricycles Bring 222 km Range to Europe

Bontu has entered Europe with a compact electric lineup aimed at two fast-growing use cases: urban mobility and last-mile logistics. The launch took place in Milan, where Shandong Bentu New Energy Vehicle Industry presented Bontu-branded electric quadricycles for European buyers, importers, fleets, and city operators.

The plan looks simple. Build small. Keep weight down. Use EU L6e and L7e homologation to reach drivers and operators that need low running costs, compact sizing, and zero tailpipe emissions inside cities that keep squeezing conventional vans.

Bontu Targets Europe With Three Electric Quadricycle Models

The first European range covers the BTE05 city minicar, the BTE09 youth-focused microcar, and the BTE03 mini commercial vehicle. In addition, Bontu splits the range across passenger and work duty, which gives the brand a cleaner entry point than a single novelty microcar.

Looking at the data, the BTE05 plays the role of the practical urban runabout. The BTE09 handles lower-speed access through L6e quadricycle rules and a faster L7e quadricycle setup. The BTE03 targets parcel delivery, food logistics, cold-chain work, and municipal routes where a full-size van wastes space, battery, and money.

BTE05 Specs: Small Footprint, Useful Battery Options

Specifically, the BTE05 measures 3,000 mm long, 1,500 mm wide, and 1,630 mm tall, with a 1,953 mm wheelbase. In old money, that means 118.1 inches long, 59.1 inches wide, 64.2 inches tall, and 76.9 inches between the axles. That footprint puts it well under a typical A-segment city car, yet Bontu fits two or four seats and a reclining rear backrest.

The powertrain starts at 13 kW nominal output and 20 kW peak output with the smaller battery. The larger battery version lifts output to 20 kW nominal and 30 kW peak, while torque reaches 85 Nm. Consequently, the BTE05 should suit urban speeds, ring-road hops, and low-speed commuting better than scooter-style microcars with minimal cabin structure.

Bontu uses a passenger cell made from 60 percent high-strength steel, then adds anti-collision beams and door reinforcements. That detail counts. Quadricycles do not match full passenger cars in crash regulations, so material strategy and cabin structure carry real value.

The BTE09 measures 2,750 mm long, 1,450 mm wide, and 1,640 mm tall, with a 1,755 mm wheelbase. By comparison, it trims 250 mm from the BTE05 length, which helps parking and narrow-street use. Bontu offers it as a two-seat L6e light quadricycle limited to 45 km/h and as a four-seat L7e heavy quadricycle capable of 75 km/h.

The interesting hardware sits in the motor. Bontu describes the BTE09 as using an automotive-type permanent magnet flat-wire synchronous motor, a design that packs copper more tightly in the stator. In practical terms, that can reduce electrical losses, improve thermal control, and support cleaner torque delivery during repeated stop-start driving. Bontu claims a 15 percent energy-consumption reduction from this setup.

BTE03 Mini Commercial Vehicle: Built For Delivery Routes

The BTE03 brings the strongest business case. It measures 3,564 mm long, 1,220 mm wide, and 1,980 mm tall, with a 2,200 mm wheelbase. The payload reaches 340 kg, and Bontu offers pickup, truck, and cargo versions.

In addition, the cargo version uses double rear doors and can add a side door. That layout matters for delivery work because drivers can load from more than one angle, park tighter to curbs, and reduce walking distance during multi-drop routes.

Bontu says the BTE03 completed more than 1 million km of testing in hot and cold conditions. The cab and body use 95 percent high-strength steel, while MacPherson front suspension, ABS, EBD, regenerative braking, electric power steering, cruise control, air conditioning, and radar sensors round out the work-vehicle package.
