The 2024 Mitsubishi L200 is the sixth generation of the popular midsize pickup truck sold in various markets since 1978. The new model features a complete redesign inside and out and significant performance, safety, and comfort improvements. Here are some main highlights of the new Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck.
New Ladder Frame and Suspension
The 2024 Mitsubishi L200 is built on a newly developed ladder frame chassis that increases the torsional rigidity by 60 percent compared to the previous generation. This enhances the durability and stability of the truck, especially on rough terrain. The new frame also uses high-tensile steel material that reduces the weight of the body.
The suspension system has also been revamped with a new double-wishbone front suspension and a lighter leaf spring rear suspension. The new setup improves the ride quality and handling of the truck, as well as the load capacity and towing performance. The 2024 Mitsubishi L200 can carry up to 1,100 kg (2,425 lbs) of payload and tow up to 3,500 kg (7,716 lbs) of trailer weight.
New Diesel Engine and Transmission
The new Mitsubishi L200 is powered by a newly developed 2.4-liter diesel engine that offers three different power outputs: 148 hp (110 kW) and 330 Nm (243 lb-ft) of torque, 181 hp (135 kW) and 430 Nm (316 lb-ft) of torque, and 201 hp (150 kW) and 470 Nm (346 lb-ft) of torque. The new engine is more efficient and cleaner than the previous one, thanks to reduced friction loss and a new combustion system.
The engine is paired with either a six-speed automatic transmission or a shift-by-wire six-speed manual transmission. The shift-by-wire system eliminates the mechanical linkage between the gear lever and the transmission, allowing for smoother and quicker gear changes. The transmission also features a rev-matching function that automatically adjusts the engine speed to match the gear ratio.
New Four-Wheel Drive System and Driving Modes
The 2024 Mitsubishi L200 offers two types of four-wheel drive systems: Super Select 4WD-II and Easy Select 4WD. The Super Select 4WD-II system features a center limited-slip differential that distributes the torque between the front and rear axles in a 40:60 ratio. The system also has four selectable modes:
- 2H (rear-wheel drive)
- 4H (four-wheel drive)
- 4HLc (four-wheel drive with locked center differential)
- 4LLc (low-range four-wheel drive with locked center differential)
The Easy Select 4WD system has three selectable modes: 2H (rear-wheel drive), 4H (four-wheel drive), and 4L (low-range four-wheel drive). Both systems also offer seven driving modes that adjust the engine, transmission, brake, and steering settings according to different road conditions: Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock.
New Design and Features
The exterior design of the 2024 Mitsubishi L200 is more rugged and modern than before, with a larger grille, split headlights, LED taillights, and sculpted fenders. The truck also features Mitsubishi's Dynamic Shield design concept that emphasizes the protection and performance of the vehicle. The flagship trim level has a body-colored grille and dark titanium accents for a sportier look.
The interior design of the new Mitsubishi L200 is more spacious and comfortable than before, with higher-quality materials, improved ergonomics, and more storage spaces. The truck also features a new digital instrument cluster, a new infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, wireless charging, and a nine-speaker sound system.

Price and Availability
The 2024 Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck will go on sale in Thailand first in July 2023, followed by other markets in Asia Pacific, Oceania, Europe, Africa, Latin America, Middle East in due course.
